Tyler Alicea is the health care reporter for The Ithaca Voice. He reports on issues regarding health care in the City of Ithaca and Tompkins County.
Background: Tyler is a contributor at USA TODAY College and is the current managing editor of The Cornell Daily Sun. At The Sun, he has reported on a variety of issues facing the area including minimum parking requirements, crime and relations between Cornell University and Ithaca. From 2010 to 2012, Tyler was also a contributor at The Bethlehem Press, a local paper in Pennsylvania.
Favorite Ithaca meal: There are way too many favorites, but for a good sub, go to Gorgers. Their meals are good and greasy enough to be a quality guilty pleasure for lovers of carbohydrates.
Favorite way to spend a Friday night in Ithaca: Anything that isn’t in front of a computer screen, whether it be hanging out with friends, going to a concert, or spending some time exploring all Ithaca has to offer.
Fun fact: When he isn’t chasing down leads, Tyler loves to spend his time outdoors backpacking and camping. When he was 14, he went on a two-week-long backpacking trek in New Mexico.
