Ithaca, N.Y. — A man was convicted on two felonies charges Wednesday after he stole jewelry from a home on Pleasant Street in Ithaca, according to Tompkins County District Attorney Gwen Wilkinson.

Angel Arce, 49, was arrested by Ithaca police on June 4, 2013.

Authorities say  on that day Arce broke into the home on Pleasant Street, ransacked the apartment of a female resident and then fled after being confronted by a male resident of the home.

Because Arce was convicted of a burglary in 2013, he now faces a maximum of 15 years in a state prison, according to a statement released by Wilkinson.

He will be sentenced Aug. 1, 2014.

Assistant District Attorney Gary Surdell led the prosecution of the case.
