Ithaca, N.Y. — New York State Assemblywoman Barbara Lifton announced today that she plans to run for re-election.
The 2011 recipient of the “Environmental Legislator of the Year” award from the Environmental Advocates of New York State has been a member of the assembly since 2002, according to a press release.
Lifton represents the 125th Assembly District, which includes the city of Cortland and the towns of Cortlandville and Virgil, along with the entirety of Tompkins County.
Lifton has authored letters to the Governor and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation regarding anti-fracking efforts and has worked to raise awareness about the dangers of climate change.
