Ithaca, N.Y. — A benefit event for those affected by the crash at Simeon’s Restaurant on June 20 has been postponed until next Tuesday because of the weather.

The event, originally scheduled for tonight, will take place at Stewart Park in Ithaca on Tuesday, July 15, and will benefit Simeon’s staff, tenants of the building that was damaged, the Titus Gallery and Cornell Barbershop staff.

It’s being postponed because of the “high potential for severe weather,” according to a flier from the event’s organizers. The National Weather Service reported that there will likely be showers and thunderstorms mainly after 5 p.m. this evening.

The benefit begins at 6 p.m. and will continue until 9 p.m., according to the event’s Facebook page, found here.

It will also serve as a “community donation drop off-point,” and those collecting items for those in need are encouraged to bring them to this event.
