Sayre, Pa. — The Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital named former congressional candidate and Tompkins County legislator Nathan Shinagawa as its vice president of hospital operations, Shinagawa announced on Facebook Thursday.
“When I started as an intern here five years ago, in a windowless supply closet turned office, little did I know that it was the beginning of an amazing career here at The Guthrie Clinic,” he said on Facebook. “I’m looking forward to the future!”
Shinagawa — a Cornell alumnus — ran against Republican Tom Reed in the race for New York’s 23rd Congressional District and lost by small margin. He formerly served as the vice chair of the Tompkins County Legislature. (Correction: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that Shinagawa is the vice chair of the legislature.)
