Ithaca, N.Y. – The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch in the City of Ithaca from Thursday at noon through the evening.
The watch says that a slow-moving cold front will meet with warm humid air over Central New York and Northeast Pennsylvania this afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms will develop as a result and will continue until the evening.
One to two inches of rain per hour is possible, according to the National Weather Service, which added that some locations have already received heavy rain in the last two days due to thunderstorms.
You should also monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should a flash flood warning be issued. We’ll update our homepage as the evening’s weather develops.
Correction: This headline previously stated that there was a flash flood warning in effect. It is actually a flash flood watch.
