Ithaca, N.Y. — On Aug. 29, the fall season of the State Theatre of Ithaca will launch with a performance by the indie rock band Spoon, according to Dan Smalls Presents, an Ithaca-based company that helps organize local performances and productions.
The band, which formed in 1993, hails from Texas and consists of vocalist Britt Daniel, drummer Jim Eno, and multi-instrumentalists Rob Pope, Eric Harvey and Alex Fischel.
Over the years, it has produced hits like “The Underdog”, “The Way We Get By” and “I Turn My Camera On” and well-received albums ranging from Girls Can Tell in 2001 to Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga in 2007.
In 2009, the band was ranked “top overall artist of the decade” by the music ratings site Metacritic, having beaten big-name artists such as Radiohead and Animal Collective.
Tickets will be available starting next Friday, July 25.
