Ithaca, N.Y. – Police found “several packages of cocaine” in the car of Ithaca resident Michael Barrett, 25, and arrested him on Tuesday, according to a press release.

At 11:25 p.m. Tuesday, officers received a report of shots fired at 150 West Village Place, on West Hill.

When investigating the report, officers learned a description and a partial license plate for the vehicle suspected of being involved in the shots fired incident, according to the press release.

When driving to West Hill, officers saw a vehicle that matched the description on the report. Officers stopped and searched the vehicle. They found cocaine in the glove compartment, a press release said.

No firearm was found in the car, according to the press release.

Barrett was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree. He has been held pending arraignment by Ithaca City Court.
