Kristen L. Avery, 23, was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Here’s the account given by police:

Avery’s car got stuck in a swampy area behind the Shurfine Grocery on Trumans Road in Ulysses. Police were called for a 911 report of an erratic driver in the grocery’s parking lot.

“An investigation determined that the driver had continued driving into a swampy area behind the store and was stuck while still behind the steering wheel,” a press release said. “A further investigation determined that the driver was intoxicated while she was driving.”

Avery was arraigned in Ulysses Town Court and released to her attorney.
