Ithaca, N.Y. — Taste of Thai on Ithaca’s Commons has reopened after being closed by the health department for about two weeks.
Health officials said on July 8 that leaking sewage had been discovered at the well-known restaurant. That leak was later revealed to be contained to the eatery’s basement.
The problems caused by the leak have been resolved to inspectors’ satisfaction, said Hong Euan, an office staffer for Taste of Thai, on Monday.
Taste of Thai opened its doors again on July 14.
“We’re happy to reopen,” Euan said.
Euan said she didn’t want to talk about the questions raised by the health department, but did say the restaurant is ready to move past the issue.
She said that beyond the closure, the lingering effects of the Simeon’s crash and the ongoing Commons construction is hurting Taste of Thai’s business.
“We hope the downtown renovation is going to be finished soon,” she said.
