Ithaca, N.Y. — Ithaca police were called to a report of gunfire in the West Village around 12:20 a.m. Saturday but didn’t find either victims or suspects.

They did recover multiple bullet casings, most likely from a semi-automatic handgun, Lt. Scott Garin said in a news release.

The Tompkins County 911 Dispatch Center received multiple calls from residents near Abbott Lane in the West Village reporting that shots had been fired.

People in the area said they’d heard gunshots and the sounds of men running. But police didn’t find anyone involved in the apparent altercation.

Lt. Garin encouraged anyone who knew about the crime to call police at 607-272-3245.
