Ithaca, N.Y. — Police were called to North Cayuga Street Saturday night for a report of a home burglary.

A half-hour later, they were called to a report of a stranger passed out in a vehicle on the 100 block of Sears Street.

Police say that the person passed out in the car was the same person who burglarized the house.

Ezra N. Broadwell, 20, of Ithaca, has been arrested and charged with the felony of second-degree burglary. He is being held at Ithaca Police Department Headquarters pending arraignment.

Here’s the account police gave of the burglary:

At 11 p.m., police were called to the 400 block of North Cayuga Street for a home burglary.

The victim said he heard someone enter his apartment and interrupted a man trying to steal “multiple items from his home.”

“The perpetrator reportedly threw a bottle at the victim and fled the residence,” police said.

Broadwell was found 30 minutes later passed out in a stranger’s car. The victim of the burglary identified Broadwell as the person who had broken into his house.
