Ithaca, N.Y. — The driver accused in a New Year’s Eve crash that killed two people has gotten a new speeding ticket, according to Tompkins County Chief Court Clerk Mary Hodges.

James Crosby, 19, of Van Etten, was charged with second-degree manslaughter for the 2013 crash that took the lives of Kathy Lattimore, 67, and Derek Nichols, 20, Syracuse.com reported at the time.
Crosby was also charged with felony assault for his role in the crash, which sent several people to the hospital.
Police at the time said Crosby lost control of his vehicle, leading to the fatal Newfield accident, according to WNBF. The trial and charges are pending.
Crosby appeared in Tompkins County Court Friday morning, according to Hodges, the clerk.
Hodges said there was a bail review held Friday at which the Tompkins County District Attorney’s Office asked for Crosby to be remanded, or sent back to jail.
After the crash, Crosby was allowed to go free in part because he was in a wheelchair and prosecutors “didn’t feel he was a flight risk,” Hodges said.
However, prosecutors “left the door open” for Crosby to be remanded, and are now asking that he be sent to jail.
In doing so, prosecutors noted that Crosby was recently ticketed for speeding for going 55 mph in a 40 mph zone in the town of Danby, according to Hodges.
Judge John Rowley ordered that Crosby turn over his license, according to Hodges.
On Monday, Hodges said, Rowley is expected to give a decision on whether Crosby has to go back to jail.

At around 5 p.m. Dec. 31, Crosby was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo heading north on 34/96, known as with West Danby Road. He had one passenger, Derek Nichols, 20, in the car with him when he lost control of the vehicle and swerved into incoming traffic.
His vehicle struck a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee head-on.
Samantha Aarnio, 31, of Spencer, was driving the jeep with passengers Eugene Aarnio, 32, and Kathy Lattimore, 67.
Nichols, Crosby’s passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other four people involved in the crash were transported to nearby hospitals.
