Ithaca, N.Y. — A robber grabbed a woman’s purse, knocked her to the ground and punched her in the head before fleeing on South Geneva Street early Wednesday morning, according to the Ithaca Police Department.
At around 12:25 a.m., police were called to the 200 block of South Geneva Street for a reported strong armed robbery.
“The victim stated that while walking on South Geneva Street a male subject ran up behind her and grabbed her purse, knocking her to the ground in the process,” Officer Jamie Williamson wrote in a news release.
The robber punched the woman while she was on the ground, police said. He left with the purse.
The victim went into a nearby business and called police.
The suspect is described as a white male, early 20’s, 5’6” tall, slender build, blond hair and was last seen wearing a black fleece jacket.
