Ithaca, N.Y. — A Syracuse area man faces charges of assaulting a man in Ithaca this June, according to a review of court documents made public this week.
Wenzhi “John” Hong, 46, of the Onondaga County village of Liverpool, was arrested on Sept. 30 by Onondaga County sheriff’s deputies and Ithaca police. Hong has been charged with second-degree assault, a felony.
Hong is accused of breaking the jaw of a man at 207 Fair Street on June 20.
The victim, who had argued with Hong the day before, was hospitalized in the 1:04 a.m. attack and suffered “serious physical injury,” records show.
“I do not have the money to pay for the doctor bills now or the surgeries I am going to have soon for this,” the victim told police, according to court records.
“I also cannot work because of my injuries.”
Court records do not detail the nature of the dispute.
Hong told police he had gone to the victim’s house to apologize before kicking the victim in the face, according to records.
