Ithaca Fire Department and the Trumansburg Fire Department were called to the 1100 block of Taughannock Boulevard around 1 p.m. Thursday.

There they found a van flipped on its roof. It came to a rest in a ditch on the side of the road.

The driver was still inside, stuck upside down, with his seatbelt on. Firefighters say it took less than an hour for them to cut the man out of the van and get him into an ambulance.

The driver was taken to Cayuga Medical Center.

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating how the accident occurred.
