Ithaca, N.Y. — Cornell’s Uris Library was overrun Saturday by an invading army of drummers, flautists, trumpeters, one particularly demonstrative conductor and the rest of the Big Red Marching Band.
The marching band does this every year before the last football home game, according to horn player Andrew Distler.
The library staff is prepared for it, though some of the students doing schoolwork may not be, Distler said.
“It’s a really fun tradition that we have,” Distler said. “…We’re used to being very loud everywhere we go so it’s fun to play in one of the most quiet places on campus.”

Among the others numbers played this year were “Pinball Wizard,” music from the musical Wicked and “Welcome to the Black Parade” by My Chemical Romance.
