Dryden, N.Y. — A woman in the town of Dryden called police after watching her vehicle get stolen from her driveway around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

That set off a chase that ended about 14 miles away in the Cortland County town of Lapeer.
Law enforcement followed the vehicle’s tracks through the snow to find the stolen car and two suspects, according to a news release from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
Two men — Johnathon Reynolds, 26, of Ithaca; and Zackery Swansbrough, 20, of Dryden — have been arrested. They were both charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd Degree, a class “D” Felony, according to the sheriff’s office.
Here’s the police account of what happened:
At 3:30 a.m., the Cortland County Sheriff’s Department and the Tompkins County Sheriffs Department were alerted to the report of a stolen vehicle.
TC3 police patrol saw the car in “the Route 13 area between Dryden and Cortland.” They lost sight of the car. Then the vehicle was again seen in Dryden, near the Cortland County border.
TC3 police followed until the suspect vehicle sped away. The p
olice followed the vehicle’s tracks in the snow.
By then, the Tompkins and Cortland sheriff’s departments were also on scene. The vehicle was found on Hunts Corner Road in the town of Lapeer.
The two suspects were found “near” the abandoned vehicle, according to police.
Both men were arraigned in the Virgil Town Court. Reynolds was remanded to the Cortland County Jail on no bail; Swansbrough was remanded on bail of $5,000.
