Chris O’Leary, who graduated from Ithaca College in 2003, got a one-on-one safety briefing from flight attendants on the 76-passenger airliner before a second passenger arrived just before take-off, according to ABC News.

The alumnus is now in the national spotlight — with stories about him in CNN, USA Today, Fox News and elsewhere. The plane was going from Cleveland to New York.

ABC News reports:

(O’Leary) started tweeting about his amazement before the plane took off, saying how he got a personalized safety briefing and a one-on-one run down from the captain about the flight.

“It was definitely the most memorable flight I’ve been on in recent memory if only for the sheer lack of passengers to become bothersome,” O’Leary told ABC News. “There were no screaming babies, no one listening to loud lyrics or reclining their seats or taking their shoes.”

O’Leary, editor of the beer news site Brew York, has been enjoying his self-described “15 minutes of fame.”

“Sorry I’ve been a little quiet today. Got a little attention for something unrelated to beer,” Brew York said on Twitter.
