Ithaca, N.Y. — The National Weather Service is again warning that bitterly cold temperatures will make being outside in Ithaca miserable.

A wind chill advisory has been issued from 7 p.m. tonight until 11 a.m. Saturday. Temperatures could dip below zero, according to the weather service.


Notes from the NWS:

— Temperatures are expected to fall between 10 below zero and 10 degrees.

— Strong wind gusts will reach up to 35 mph.

—  “Impacts … bitterly cold wind chills will bring frostbite quickly to exposed skin,” the weather service says.

— With wind chill factors, we could be looking at -15 to -24 below.

— “Wind chill is expected to be cold enough to cause frostbite in about 30 minutes or less … and could lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken,” the weather service says.

“Those planning to venture outdoors should use common sense and dress warmly.”

— We’ll see a couple of inches of additional snow at most.
