According to state police, that woman provided details about the death of Phillip Edward Zerrillo.
Zerrillo, 22, died on May 25, 1990, after he was hit by a vehicle while walking on Kinney Gulf Road in the town of Cortlandville.
The driver of the car was never found. The nearly 25-year-old case has gone cold, according to state police.
State police don’t know the identity of the woman who provided the information about the crash last year.
But in a statement on Friday, state troopers based out of Ithaca announced that they are seeking the public’s help in finding her.
“Anyone who may have any information on the identity of this woman or details of the fatal motor vehicle/pedestrian accident are requested to call the New York State Police at (607) 347-4440,” the statement released today said.
“Attempts are being made to identify and further interview this woman.”
