Cornell trailed Colgate 2-0 when Fulton scored the Big Red’s first goal with 6:29 left in the third period.
The senior followed that up with a second, game-tying-goal after Coach Doug Derraugh pulled his goalie for an extra-attacker. Less than 30 seconds after Derraugh pulled the goalie, Fulton got a backdoor feed from Brianne Jenner and banged it past the Colgate netminder.
That set up the overtime heroics. The game winner came off a set play, according to the Cornell press office:
The captain one touched a pass to Fulton, who had somehow found space between three Colgate defenders between the circles.
She one-timed a bomb five-hole past Colgate netminder Ashlynne Rando; getting mobbed by her exuberant teammates as soon as the puck hit the twine.
Cornell is now in a tie with Clarkson for 3rd place in the conference. The Big Red women will play next in Quinnipiac on Friday.
