Ithaca, N.Y. — VisitIthaca.com, the tourism website run by the Ithaca Convention & Visitors Bureau, has added a pop-up to its site suggesting travelers contemplating Ithaca should visit the Florida Keys instead.
“Due to this ridiculously stupid winter,” the web site pop-up says, “Ithaca invites you to visit The Keys this week.”
Perhaps a better suggestion would be to plan a trip to Miami for this coming weekend’s Virginia Key GrassRoots Festival.
A spin-off of the legendary Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance, the Miami music festival is held at Virginia Key Beach Park.
Ithaca is in the midst of an unusual spate of wintry weather, with extreme cold and biting wind this weekend after a string of snowstorms. (Of course, we have nothing on New England, which is running out of places to put the several feet of snow that have accumulated. Several areas have set records for snowfall.)
