Ithaca, N.Y. — Authorities are looking for whoever shot a bald eagle found in Otsego County, according to the New York Wildlife Rescue Center.

The juvenile bald eagle had its wing broken and was discovered this past weekend by a hiker.
In a Facebook post, the New York Wildlife Rescue Center says that the bald eagle is being treated by Cornell’s vets.
There’s a $1,000 reward leading to the arrest of whoever shot the bird.
The Facebook post recalled the wildlife center’s efforts to save the bird:
“Really low body score. Old injury. Stabilized. I think she needs another iv early and needs to get to Cornell Wildlife Clinic for surgery and getting rid of necrotic tissue to save most of wing.”
And then an update:
“Eagle is at Cornell. Thank you Bob and Philippa Dunne for transporting it for me .
–I am confident this bird will survive…..I hope. Fluid iv made her pretty feisty this am but she has been down and starving for awhile….”
“–What the conservation officer said was she was found on ground by hikers. It could have been a territorial nesting thing. I am waiting for CO to get back to me with intake info.”
