Ithaca, N.Y. ā An Ithaca man faces felony charges after he was arrested driving while drunk with a child in the backseat, according to court records.

Rajan J. Knox, 33, has been charged with aggravating driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. Knox is scheduled to be arraigned in Tompkins County Court on Monday.
Knox was charged under āLeandraās Law,ā which makes it a felony in New York state to drive drunk with a person under the age of 15 in the vehicle.
Knox was pulled over while driving south on Troy Road on March 1 at around 12:36 a.m. in the town of Ithaca, according to records filed by the Tompkins County Sheriffās Office.
Sheriffās deputies say Knox was pulled over for a traffic infraction, accusing the driver of going 50 mph in a 30 mph zone. He was also driving with a suspended license, according to the sheriffās office.
Knoxās Blood Alcohol Content was 0.181 at the time of his arrest, according to the felony complaint filed against him. The legal limit to drive is 0.08.
The officer noticed that Knox smelled of alcohol, had impaired speech, glassy eyes and failed other parts of the DWI test.
