Emergency responders were called to 811 White Church Road in Brooktondale Saturday night, according to Jordan.

Brooktondale firefighters were the first at the scene. When they arrived most of the fire was out, but the woman had died by the time responders arrived. (Her name is expected to be released later by state police, who are conducting an investigation.)

How she died will also be released after an autopsy, according to Jordan.

Brooktondale firefighters were on scene for about five hours. They were able to knock out the fire within five to 10 minutes, according to Jordan.

Jordan says he believes the woman’s son, who lives across the street, was the person who called in the house blaze.

He tried putting out the fire at the small, single-story, wood-frame home with a garden hose, according to Jordan.

Nobody else was home at the time of the fire other than the woman who died, Jordan said.

The Slaterville Fire Department and Slaterville Ambulance were also called to the scene.
