Update: The Amber Alert activated on Friday after a boy was reportedly abducted in Cortland has been canceled.
The child was reportedly found in Pennsylvania. He is safe.
The alert was canceled at 4:59 p.m. on Friday, according to the NY Amber Alert system.

Cortland, N.Y. — An Amber Alert was issued Friday afternoon after a child was reported to have been abducted in the city of Cortland.
The child was abducted by his father on Lincoln Avenue in Cortland at around 2:50 p.m., the Cortland City Police Department reported.

The child is Liam Brandon Barr-Whitfield, a 4-year-old who is white and has brown hair and brown eyes. He’s about 3 feet and 4 inches tall and weighs 45 pounds.
Barr-Whitfield was last seen wearing Camouflage pants, a gray t-shirt saying “this is what cool looks like,” black and green sneakers, and a navy blue rain jacket with a hood.
The suspect is Shane Whitfield, 57, a white male with shaved, blonde hair and blue eyes. He is approximately 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs about 215 pounds. The suspect was last seen wearing a blue t shirt, and blue gray jeans.
The vehicle was identified as a a gray pickup truck 2015 Nissan Frontier with Florida license plate number 191YTL.
More on the suspect: “The vehicle was last seen traveling on Lincoln Avenue possibly heading for State of Florida.
“Non-custodial father forcibly abducted the child from a supervised visitation in violation of court order. Suspect has a lengthy history of violence.
