Macrabie and Sharon Darlow, 53, of Ithaca, were airlifted to the hospital after the Rt. 13 crash on Wednesday. Snyder was declared dead at the scene.
Here’s how the accident happened, according to the sheriff:
At around 3:50 p.m., police were called to the four-vehicle accident.
They learned that Snyder’s Ford Focus was going south on Elmira Road in the outermost righthand lane when she crossed into the center lane and hit a 2015 Toyota that was also going south.
The driver of the Toyota was uninjured. Police say Snyder’s Ford continued into the northbound lane, where it sideswiped a 2013 Chevrolet pickup truck traveling north. The driver of the pickup truck was also not injured in the crash.
However, Snyder’s vehicle continued traveling south on Elmira Road in the north bound lane, “where it collided head on with Darlow’s vehicle,” according to the sheriff’s office.
