Trumansburg, N.Y. — A Trumansburg man faces robbery and burglary charges after attacking a drug dealer who was taking classes at Ithaca College, according to records filed in Tompkins County Court.

John Oliver-Arroyo, 20, of 6170 Iradell Road, has been charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree robbery, both felonies, police records show.
Oliver-Arroyo was arraigned on the charges on Monday, a court calendar says. He’s accused of committing the crimes on April 3, 2014.
The charges against Oliver-Arroyo, which do not appear to have been previously reported, say that the man unlawfully entered a house in Ithaca and attempted to strike a victim with a golf club.
The victim of the assault gave police the following account in sworn testimony:
At around 8:30 p.m. on April 3, a man attending Ithaca College heard from someone who called himself Chris.
“Chris” — later identified by police as John Oliver-Arroyo — said he wanted to buy 3 lbs of marijuana from the man, an Ithaca College student who told law enforcement that he was selling marijuana to support himself and pay his way through school.
Oliver-Arroyo showed up at around 9:30 p.m. and said he wanted to see the marijuana before turning over the money, according to court documents.
Oliver-Arroyo left the house. Later on, the IC student opened the door and found Oliver-Arroyo with two other people. They appeared to be carrying weapons.
The IC student ran and told his girlfriend to call police. The situation escalated and, according to the victim, Oliver-Arroyo began stealing things from the house. His girlfriend began screaming.
“I was extremely terrified and with the screams of my girlfriend I felt I was going to be hurt and I knew I was being robbed,” the victim says.
The IC student grabbed a knife and then chased Oliver-Arroyo outside before stabbing him “in the top of his right shoulder.”
Oliver-Arroyo had to be taken to the hospital, where he was identified by the victim. Court records indicate that the other two men escaped.
All together, a safe, a Macbook computer, a cell phone, an ounce of weed and $1,300 were stolen, according to records.
