Ithaca, N.Y. — The Ithaca Police Department reminded the public on Tuesday that there remains a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the arson that destroyed Sgt. Bryan Bangs’ home in 2010.
“There is still a reward for information who burned down Banger’s house. Someone somewhere knows who did it,” the IPD’s Facebook page said.
Bangs’ home was burned down in July 2010 after Bangs shot and killed Shawn Greenwood, a suspect in a drug investigation. The fire was later ruled an arson; a grand jury later determined that Bangs’ use of force was justified, according to The Ithaca Journal and Cornell Daily Sun.
