Ithaca, N.Y. — Temperatures in Ithaca have soared to close to 90 degrees on Friday, potentially breaking a record for this early date.

In any event, the National Weather Service in Binghamton says these could be record highs for the region. Ithaca hit 87 degrees Friday afternoon, the NWS says.
“Syracuse and Binghamton probably will break their daily high temperature records for May 8th,” the weather service said. “Temperatures are about 20 degrees above normal.”
We’re not complaining. There’s some chance of showers on Saturday and Monday, but we’re generally looking at some wonderfully beautiful weather.
Syracuse.com’s Glenn Coin reports that “while temperatures today will feel like mid-summer, the humidity will be lower than a typical July day.”
