NEWFIELD, N.Y. – A pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle Sunday morning in Newfield, an official said.

The accident happened around 7:55 a.m. on Routes 34/96 between Decker Road and Route 13, a Tompkins County 911 dispatcher said.

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, Newfield Fire Company and Bangs Ambulance responded to the scene.

The north and southbound lanes in the area still closed as of about 11:15 a.m., the dispatcher said.
