The Ithaca Fire Department was called to the multi-apartment home at 11:14 a.m. and had the flames put out by 11:28 a.m., Assistant Fire Chief Dan Tier said.

He said there was no smoke visible when crews got to the scene, but they found flames on the stove and smoke when they entered a third floor apartment.

One person lives in the affected home and it’s unclear if he will be temporarily displaced, Tier said.

The road was temporarily closed near the intersection of Fountain PLace and East Buffalo Street just after noon.
