ITHACA, N.Y. –  A severe thunderstorm watch is issued throughout Tompkins County Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service reports.

Around 7:45 a.m., doppler radar tracked the storm moving east around 50 mph, according to a Special Weather Statement.

The most severe parts of the storm are moving through the county south of Ithaca, through Newfield, Danby and Slaterville Springs.

The watch is scheduled until 11 a.m., but The Weather Channel is forecasting isolated thunderstorms in the area until as late as 2 p.m.
