Update 11:58 p.m. – The National Weather Service has lifted the tornado warning in Tompkins County. A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued from Tompkins, Cortland and Chenango counties until 1 a.m.
Damaging winds 60 to 70 mph are being reported as the storm continues to moves east.
The weather service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Tompkins, Cortland and other Central New York counties until tomorrow. Isolated thunderstorms could develop in these counties, forecasts say.
The New York State Electric and Gas Corporation is reporting that 31 people are without power in Tompkins County at of 12:30 a.m.
ITHACA, N.Y. – A tornado warning is issued for north central Tompkins County until 11:45 p.m., the National Weather Service announced.

The warning was issued after a severe thunderstorm, capable of producing a tornado was spotted about 17 miles northwest of Ithaca at 11:12 p.m. moving east at about 45 mph.
Meteorologists are warning people in Genoa, Locke, Moravia and Groton to take cover in a basement until warning is lifted.
