Wayne Miller, 49, was traveling southbound just before 11 a.m. on West Danby Road/Route 34 in a 2004 Ford pickup truck, said Sgt. Michael Soroka, of the New York State Police.

He said Miller’s pickup truck flipped over toward the right side of the road and hit a utility pole. The vehicle then rolled back into the road and struck a tree trunk.

Soroka said Miller was unconscious when he was airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania. He is still in critical condition as of Tuesday afternoon.

Miller was the only person in the pickup and no other vehicles were involved in the incident.

While the cause of the accident is still being investigates, Soroka added, “I would say unsafe sped is a factor.”
