ITHACA, N.Y. — MacroFuel Food Inc., an Ithaca-based startup company selling a nutritionally complete drinkable meal, launched their Kickstarter campaign today, August 24th, with the goal of raising $15,000 to bring their product to market.

The team of seven Cornell students and alumni seeks to redefine the way that active persons fuel their bodies by making it possible to achieve proper nutrition without the constraints of a standard healthy diet.

“The idea for MacroFuel came about as a natural solution to a problem that I faced this past fall,” said MacroFuel Food CEO Augustine Rietsema.

“I found myself working a job on a political campaign that had me in the office at least 10 hours a day; frequently more. As someone trying to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle, I continually struggled to supplement my busy schedule with a nutritional diet. MacroFuel is the answer I was looking for. It provides ease, nutrition, portability, and a great taste,” he said.

MacroFuel was developed with the consultation of Charles Lee, an award winning food scientist, and 4th year PhD candidate in Cornell University’s food science program.

The product is a mix of real-food ingredients in a powdered form; including soybeans, oats, rice, and honey, among other ingredients. It can be easily mixed with water to provide a full drinkable meal in a matter of minutes.

In a world of fad-diets and shady supplements, MacroFuel differs from traditional meal replacement products by providing a complete, easy, and nutritious meal with a balanced nutrient profile; including healthy carbohydrates, protein, fiber, and 24 different vitamins and minerals.

“By using real-food ingredients to create MacroFuel, our team has ensured the product will not only meet a customers daily nutrient needs, but also turn into easily absorbable nutrients in our digestive system,” said Charles Lee.

“As opposed to products filled with chemicals and unnecessary additives, MacroFuel has derived its nutrient profile from ingredients that are already prevalent in a standard healthy diet,” he said.

MacroFuel can be ordered on the company’s Kickstarter page for as low as $3.00 per meal. The campaign will run for 30 days, ending on September 23rd, and the first orders are expected to ship by November.

“We’re extremely confident in our ability to raise $15,000, as we’ve already seen an incredible outpouring of support from people of all different backgrounds,” said Augustine. “The desire for easy, perfect nutrition is universal – and I believe the drinkable food industry is only just emerging.”
