Alanson D. Burlingame, 31, of Groton,  is charged with introducing prison contraband.

Officials said Burlingame’s charge is a result of a joint investigation between the sheriff’s office criminal investigation division and the sheriff’s office corrections division to determine how the drug was making its way into the jail.

Burlingame was arraigned in the town of Lansing court and returned to jail in lieu of posting $5,000  bail or $15,000 bond. He’s scheduled to reappear in court on Sept. 9.
