Police were called to 186 Nelson Road in Danby at around 11:05 a.m. for a report of a suspect threatening people with a knife.

The possible victims made it out of the home before the police arrived. Authorities tried to contact the subject, “but the subject failed to respond,” according to a news release from the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office.

After 40 minutes, the officers on scene saw a window toward the back of the home slide open. A person, believed to be the subject, then left out the window.

“The subject was immediately taken into custody outside the residence. No injuries to the subject or the victims were reported,” the news release said.

The investigation is continued by the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office. Assisting at the scene was the Ithaca Police Department, the New York State Police and Bangs Ambulance.
