ITHACA, N.Y. — A Chinese restaurant on North Aurora Street is moving from its location a block away from the Ithaca Commons this month to the western end of town.

Jade Garden, at 118 North Aurora Street on Ithaca’s “Restaurant Row,” will be keeping its name and menu at its new location on South Meadow Street.

Jade Garden has been in business since at least 2006, according to incorporation records.

An employee at Jade Garden said last week that the restaurant has increasingly relied on deliveries and take-out orders instead of diners who come in to eat. The new location will make it easier to serve customers who order delivery, while also saving the owners rent money, she said.

A sign on the door says Jade Garden will be moving to 108 S. Meadow Street:

“Jade Garden offers a small but well-stocked Chinese lunch and dinner buffet right off the Commons, plus tasty food prepared to order for dining in or carry-out service,” 14850.com wrote in its review of the casual Asian eatery.

“The restaurant is clean and casual, and while they don’t compare to the sheer variety at the larger buffets in town, they don’t seem to have to.”
