ITHACA, N.Y. — The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory and hazardous weather advisory in Ithaca that is expected to last until Thursday.

The wind advisory and hazardous weather outlook will go into effect at 11 a.m. and last until 2 a.m. Thursday, while south and southeast winds reach speeds of 15 to 30 mph. Gusts are expected to reach as fast as 45 to 55 mph., the weather service says.
The Weather Channel website states that rain is expected to stay in the area throughout Wednesday before slowing down and ending Thursday morning. Nearly two inches of rain is possible through Wednesday.
The National Weather Service is reporting that thunderstorms will likely move across the area around 11 p.m., when another surge of strong winds are expected.
Syracuse.com is reporting that the storm — which is impacting the Southern Tier and Central New York — was caused when the remains of Hurricane Patricia began interacting with another system crossing southern Canada.
The hurricane — which is the the most powerful tropical cyclone ever measured in the Western Hemisphere — reached maximum wind speeds of 200 mph on Friday afternoon, The Weather Channel reported.
