ITHACA, N.Y. — Officials said a college-age man was airlifted to a hospital after falling off a roof Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. at 306 Stewart Ave., the Ithaca Fire Department said in a news release.

The male was found unresponsive on the ground when officials arrived. EMTs from the fire department and Bangs Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene.

The male was then taken in an ambulance to an area near East Hill Plaza where a helicopter from Guthrie Air transported him to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania.

Officials said the victim’s injuries are serious.

Ithaca police also responded to the scene and interviewed witnesses. They are still investigating the accident, officials said.

A cause of the fall has not been released as of Saturday night.
