ITHACA, N.Y. — A man has been charged with driving while intoxicated after police say he caused an accident in the city of Ithaca early Tuesday morning.
Christopher J. Mekos, 47, was driving with a blood alcohol concentration of .13 percent — nearly twice the legal limit — when he passed a stop sign and hit a vehicle, police said.
Officials were called to the scene around 12:41 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of North Fulton and West Seneca streets.
Officer Jamie Williamson said no injuries were reported at the scene and the vehicle that was hit had to be towed because of damage to the left side of the vehicle.
