VAN ETTEN, N.Y. — A 15-year-old who went missing from her Van Etten home early morning is still missing, police said.
Police confirmed that Hornbrook may be in the downtown Ithaca area but declined to further comment because the case is still ongoing.
According to a social media flier made by the teen’s mother, Rachel E. MacCaskill Goehner , Hornbrook recently dyed her hair red and cut it to chin-length.
Spokesman Jamie Williamson, of the Ithaca Police Department, said officers are assisting state police with the investigation.
“All of our officers have been made aware of the circumstances,” he said, and police have been provided with photos of the missing teen.
He said it’s “widely reported” that Hornbrook is in Ithaca but officers have not found her as of Tuesday afternoon.
According to the 14850 website, Goehner told them her daughter is, “…likely to be wearing a brown jacket with dark pink plaid on the inner lining and a fur-lined hood, could be wearing jeans or yoga pants, and has maroon canvas sneakers. She may be carrying a large, sparkly, pink and black striped Victoria’s Secret bag, though that may have been stolen by the people she is believed to have been visiting in Ithaca.”
