WEST POINT, NY – West Point cadet Lukas M. Saul stands accused of sexually assaulting a fellow cadet. His court martial began on Wednesday morning, according to a release from the academy.

Saul, 23, of Ithaca is charged with one count each of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and sodomy under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
According to the news release, the charges indicate that Saul engaged in inappropriate contact with another cadet without her consent on three separate occasions, both on and off the West Point campus. The incidents occurred between March and December 2012.
Saul has been on administrative leave since Aug. 17.
If convicted, Saul faces a maximum potential punishment of dismissal from the Army, complete forfeiture of pay, and imprisonment for life, per West Point’s news release.
