According to the New York State Parks website, “Taughannock Falls plunges 215 feet past rocky cliffs that tower nearly 400 feet above the gorge. Gorge and rim trails offer spectacular views from above the falls and from below at the end of the gorge trail.”

It’s also the “largest single-drop waterfall east of the Rockies,” according to the Thrillist website, which released the list of waterfalls in its travel section.

The waterfall is located at Taughannock Falls State Park at 1740 Taughannock Blvd., and is surrounded by miles of hiking trails that provide views of the falls.

Just another reason to love living in the Ithaca area.
