ITHACA, NY – Earlier this month, Ithaca College announced the members of the search committee that will be seeking a replacement for President Tom Rochon, who will retire in 2017.

Following a semester of unrest at the college over issues of racial insensitivity and shared governance, President Tom Rochon announced he would retire.
The IC Board of Trustees promised transparency in their search for a new president, and have been periodicially updating the website as they move ahead with the search process.
The committee will consist of 15 people. Six members of the Board of Trustees, as well as the student, alumni, faculty and staff liaisons to the Board of Trustees make up ten of those spots. The others consist of one each student, two faculty members, one staff member and one administrator.
“The committee represents the wide breadth of our Ithaca College community and possesses a rich diversity of experience and perspective,” said Tom Grape, chairman of IC’s Board of Trustees in the announcement. Grape is one of the members on the search committee.
The Executive Committees of the Faculty and Staff Councils and the Executive Board of the Student Government Association each nominated members of their respective constituencies to the committee.

The next step, as per the timeline detailed on the Ithaca College website, is to give the campus community opportunities to share their feedback and suggestions for the search with the Board of Trustees.
The announcement also said that the board is currently in the process of interviewing its final choices for the search firm that will guide the search process., and expect they will announce their choice soon. The purpose of said firm is to help shape the search process, including when and how the search committee will collect input from various IC constituencies.
