ITHACA, N.Y. — A woman known as Ithaca’s ‘grandma’ protester was released on $5,000 bail this week after serving 49 days in jail, reports say.

Mary Anne Grady Flores was arrested on Feb. 13, 2013 while taking photos of an anti-drone protest at the Hancock Air Base, which is co-located with Syracuse Hancock International Airport. While taking photos, she is accused of stepping onto the air base property, something prohibited by an order of protection previously issued against her and eight other protesters.
Charges against the other protesters who were taken into custody the same day were later dropped after a judge determined that there was no intent by them to break the law.

Grady Flores was sentenced to serve six-months in jail, reduced from an original year-long sentence.
Her attorney Lance Salisbury previously said that with good behavior, Grady Flores could end up serving as little as four months.
He predicted at the time of her sentencing in January that an appellate court could deny a stay of sentencing while her case is being reanalyzed.
He said the application of an order of protection in this case was unprecedented and the sentence — reduced from a year to six-months on Jan. 8 — was unique and not on par with other cases he’s worked regarding orders of protection.
