Marchant Jolles, 22, was charged with four counts of felony fourth-degree grand larceny following his arrest Monday evening. Other charges are pending, the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Police said they responded to several reports of vehicles being broken into at night on March 6 in the village of Lansing.
While investigating the complaints, police said the credit cards were used at several stores at The Shops of Ithaca Mall.
A person reported to police Monday around 5:30 p.m. that the same person who used the stolen credit cards previously had returned to one of the stores.
Police were then able to find and take Jolles into custody.
Jolles was arraigned in front of Judge Howell of the Town of Lansing Court. He has been remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of posting $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. An official at the jail confirmed Tuesday morning that the man is still in custody.
