LANSING, NY – Firefighters are responding to a machine fire at the Cayuga Power Plant Milliken Station. Black smoke can be seen billowing from the area.

According to Tompkins County Dispatch, the fire is inside one of the machines at 228 Cayuga Drive in Lansing.

The fire was called in a 9:58 a.m. and is under control, according to the Tompkins County Department of Emergency Response.

Lansing Fire Department is on the scene, along with Cayuga Heights Fire Department. They’ve also requested a fire engine and ladder from Ithaca Fire Department. New York State Police and Bangs Ambulance are on scene as well.

A representative from the Cayuga Power Plant said at the scene that officials will not be talking to media about the incident at this time.

Police scanner traffic indicated that the building was cleared as a precaution.
